Locking mechanism makes mail box quite secure but the design of post changed. My neighbor bought one a few years ago and it came with a one-piece post. I did not realize that they changed the design to a two-piece post which is locked together by three threaded bolts. I was very careful in not over tightening the bolts but one of them would not tighten (the threads probably stripped the hole) and consequently the post is not secure. Because of the design of the bolts I cannot take it off to try and replace it with a larger threaded bolt. I like the mail box but would not recommend it with the two piece post. Called and talked to a customer service representative and also sent an email describing what happened. At this point it does not appear that they can (or will) do anything to help me correct the problem.

Mailbox is very well built, works flawlessly and is nice looking. The keypad works well and the two keys provided will let you access the mailbox if you do not wwant to use the keypad or the batteries happen to go dead. I put in the best Duracell batteries, have had the mailbox for 3 weeks and have had no problems. We gave the mailman his own code so he can put the mail in the main part if he has a larger box. This should be secure since he is the guy delivering the mail in the 1st place. I would reccommend this box especially for the money.

It chews through batteries like candy. We've tried rechargeables, but changing the batteries every 3-4 days gets old fast. When you punch in your code the door unlocks, you open it, and before you can get all your mail out it relocks, with the door open. So you enter the code again just to shut the door. We've been reduced to using the one key provided to open the mailbox. If we just wanted a locking mailbox we could have gotten one far less expensive than this.
